IMF Chairman

I have to post this.  I am sure all of you are aware of Dominque Strauss-Kahn and his little foible in New York.  I have brought this up to various French citizens and they have a different take on this little issue.  They have no problem with the event and are troubled by the "Police" being involved.  I am not sure who should be involved in French rape cases but the "Police" are not acceptable.

There is a different mentality that we in the U.S.A. will never understand.

  1. French consider politicians' lives to be private, even their public indiscretions. Another "event" by a man with a womanizer reputation probably doesn't raise many eyebrows, so why bother considering it. I'm sure the thought is the police are meddling in a private matter. The Perp walk didn't help matters either, as far as the French are concerned. Sherry, "65 Million Frenchman Can't be Wrong" would be very helpful in understanding the very different mentality there, Just a thought. :)

  2. Interesting, b/c the press here is saying that while the French really do consider politicians' lives to be private and don't have problems w/ the "womanizer" reputation, but they ARE having concerns with the "rape" allegations and some were starting to question if maybe there SHOULD be more scrutiny of their private lives. I suppose the truth is somewhere in the middle and that it mostly depends on who you talk to, but it is indeed interesting to contrast the coverage. :)
