Maddux!

Maddux before the Eiffel Tower

First view of the Eiffel Tower on our walk.....impressive!

Maddux after the Eiffel Tower!

Maddux on the way to the Eiffel Tower.  There is a little park on the edge and we walked thru the park after dinner tonight.  We all had dinner by the apartment and then walked around.......Carousel, ice cream, popcorn, etc.  A nice first night in Paris.

Euro

Not happy with this movement.  Yes, the food is good, the wine is great and the countryside is beautiful.....however, the people appear to be lazy.  Therefore, bring down the Euro!

The 1.1876 looks most reasonable???

Oh, the bills are also pretty, pretty worthless soon I hope.

Paris

Today, Sherry, London, Doug, Linda and I drove from Chalon sur Saone to Paris.  A peaceful drive thru the countryside and quite honestly an easy drive into Paris to the Apartment.  When we arrived Ron, Ann, Lindsey, Jessica and Maddux were checked in and hanging out.  We have two apartments RIGHT NEXT TO THE EIFFEL TOWER and they are amazing.  I am a bit sad that is not just Sherry and me in romantic Paris.....check the picture of our view and you will understand.  Having said that we are blessed to be able to spend time with family and friends in such a beautiful setting.

So, we are moving to Phase II of our vacation.  I am sure that the blog and pictures in Paris will be more interesting with less food discussion.

On to Paris

Minivan is packed and we are off to Paris.  The minivan is packed to the gills.  Lovely Sherry is not happy with our departure from Burgundy.

Last Night - Burgundy

So tomorrow we are on our way to Paris and meeting our new guests, including my brother, son, sister in law, niece and dear family friend Lindsey.  We are very sad but optimistic about returning to Burgundy.  Tonight for our Death Penalty last meal we had Bresse Chicken, cut by the butcher perfectly, white asparagus, salad, green beans and Francois Raquillet Burgundy Red.  An all and all perfect last night.........

We watched the French Open in French.  Federer vs. Nadal final on Sunday.  Maybe we can make a play at going on Sunday.  In any event we are planning to see the Louvre, Musee d' Orsay, Versailles, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur....you get the point.

The lovely wife, Sherry and me are going to Tour de Argent (http://www.latourdargent.com/) for our Anniversary next week.  Pressed Duck, aka Canard.

We are going to enjoy this bad boy next week
LE CANARD

At this point I am out of things to say other than if you get the point please visit the Burgundy area of France.  The food, wine, people and country are all just amazing.  We completely enjoyed our time here in Bourgogne.

Next blog...............Paris!!!

Dreams Come True.....31 rue Cambon - Part Deux!!!

In her excitement, Sherry neglected to mention Part Deux of the Chanel invitation so I have cut and pasted the exact wording.......

Also, I am so excited to extend an invitation to you and Sherry to attend a cocktail party in the garden of the American Embassy on July 7th from 7 until 10 in the evening.  The embassy is hosting the party in celebration of American independence.  Chanel was given a  handful of tickets to the event and I was able to secure 2 for you.  It will be a spectacular evening .... one to remember for a lifetime!

In my opinion this is something that we cannot even begin to describe and we thank Chanel for the invitation.

Guests - Meeting in Paris

Friday, June 3.............Today we have five new guests leaving the US to meet up with us in Paris.  Ron, Ann, Maddux and Jessica are leaving from Arizona and connecting in Dallas.  Lindsey is meeting up with them in Dallas and they are all on the same direct flight to Paris.  They arrive in the morning and will get set up in the apartments before we arrive.  We are driving up from Chalon sur Saone in the morning and should arrive in Paris early afternoon.  Sunday we hope to visit the Louvre since it is free museum day in Paris (first Sunday of the month is always free for pretty much all museums).
