Our first day in Provence was pretty amazing, I must say. I'm madly in love with our previous experiences the people, food and wine in Bourgogne. I understand that everyone loves Provence, but my heart was in Bourgogne. Today just might have opened my eyes.....our first market day in Provence - Isle Sur la Sorgue.
This market is in a town that has the second largest antique dealers for interior decorators and on Sundays the stores are open to the public in addition to the market going on in town. We began our drive to Isle Sur la Sorgue from Puyvert. I was kind of disappointed in the scenery as I truly had expected something out of a movie. It was just kind of scruffy with unattractive buildings and overgrown vineyards and not much else. Where is the Provence that I've read and seen in movies.....fields of lavender, vineyards and scenic perfection?
Fortunately, when we arrived in Isle Sur la Sorgue, it was awesome. This is the cutest town with a river running through it and it was absolutely bustling! We parked and made our way to the market. I have never had such sensory overload of fragrances - the lavender, herbs, soaps, cheese, olives. It was so amazing just to stand in the middle of all of it.
(PS- we don't know these people in the picture below, I was just trying to get a picture of the market on the street. But I am trying to persuade Steve to dress like a local and start wearing a scarf & sport coat!!)
London attacked the first soap stand that she saw to select her bath soap and she couldn't decide pink or purple, so the vendor gave her both! Pretty impressive how a little french 'Bonjour' from a 3 year old will melt the locals hearts....We left with a tower of soaps.
Then we found amazing lavender sachets and London had to get one a monogrammed one.
After enjoying the market and discovering new local cheeses that we hadn't ever tried and realizing how much we love the olive tapenade (even though I never really liked olives), it was time for lunch. We found a cute little restaurant and sat inside because unfortunately all the outdoor tables were taken as the weather was absolutely perfect! Lunch was amazing - A carafe of the local rose wine & Chaud Chèvre Salade with Provencal herbs for me and Canard for Steve....London had the usual Menu Enfant - Steak Hache & Frites followed by Ice Cream/Glace. What a wonderful afternoon!!!! We will be back next Sunday!
We really appreciate those that have joined us and followed us on our adventures in 2011, 12, 13 and 14. It was truly amazing.....so, please follow us in 2015 and review the postings and enjoy as we do. For 2015, we will travel back to Bandol. We hope to provide interesting experiences and pictures for your enjoyment!

Arrived in Provence
We drove down from Beaune today. The weather was pretty awful but now it is ok....around 70 or so.
We are getting situated. The place here is absolutely amazing. Big kitchen with everything you could ask for and great showers, both of these are usually in short supply in France. The yard and the rest of the house is more than we expected.
The owner left us a Ratatouille basket. Tomorrow!!!

Hanging out in Burgundy
Not sure what to say. Made it back to last year's merry go round. London and Pappy spent much money here and London could not wait to re visit. Pappy, where are you, I am dizzy.
Back in Burgundy
Today, we visited last year. Enjoy the pictures of the chateau from last year and our favorite little country restaurant anywhere. Also, check out the Red Awning which contains the best desserts in the world.
Beaune
Tonight we did a little research and checked out the restaurants in the Centreville area of Beaune. Beautiful, there is a multi starred Michelin restaurant about 100 meters from our hotel. So, we walked over and they got us in.
Unbelievable, we were there for almost 4 hours and it seems like it was 39 minutes. The food, cheese, wine and most of all bread was the best. All in all, we are very happy to be in Burgundy.
Pictures will follow soon.

On our Way
Well, it started out interesting. Late departure due to a bathroom issue. The gate agent indicated that they would rectify the issue soon. I was concerned about the Seinfeld possibilities with that but let it go.
So, now we are on our way and then....a dude has a heart attack as we cross over NY going north. They work on him for a while and then....we are turning back to Newfoundland, Stephensville. The best part is that they landed, got the dude off the plane and then the pilot had to negotiate with the ground crew for re-fueling payment. Apparently they have heard of the AA bankruptcy in Newfoundland.
Wish us luck......we made it to Beaune.
